2759 is a magical number. It has the power to drive away subscribers, grow hair on balding heads and ensure dirty pennies multiply into nothing.

In a now-deleted post on his Don't Hate Casey blog, koi fancier Nigel Swaby claimed that his award-winning Salt Lake City Real Estate Blog attracted "2759 weekly unique visitors".[1] The hubris inherent in this proud yet insignificant claim caught the attention of Haterz, and 2759 rapidly became a running joke on EN.

Swaby himself now appears to recognize the comedic power of the number, noting in a comment on the SDCIA message board that:

Well, the key is everytime I make a stock trade or buy or sell real estate, I issue a press release. So far, I've issued 2759 press releases and this one finally got noticed. I was tiring of sending them out with no result, but I finally got lucky. That's why I will always send out press releases, especially to USA Today.[2]

Compare with the equally mystical numbers 131 or 75% success.
