DBA
From CaseyPedia
DBA: Doing Business As: a legal term describing the name of a business that does not include the legal name of its proprietor. Such names are also known as fictitious business name.
For consumer protection, most jurisdictions require a a DBA statement to be filed with local authorities, so that the owner of a business can be easily determined.
Casey Serin has filed a number of fictitious business name statements with Sacramento and Placer Counties. Perhaps ironically, given Serin's subsequent actions, Wikipedia notes that California's DBA laws are intended "to protect the public from fraud".[1]
