Focus
From CaseyPedia
Focus is the capacity to apply sustained and productive attention to an activity. Casey Serin suffers from a complete lack of focus.
Casey commonly blames his lack of any visible forward progress on his lack of focus. He claims his personality type is the cause: as an intuitive, impulsive ideas guy, his skills are better applied to identifying opportunities:
The Rational (NT) in me loves “big picture” strategic thinking but tends to ignore basic details and risks. [...]
The Artisan (SP) in me loves deal-making, creativity and freedom of action but tends to be too impulsive and inconsistent. [...]
Acting on my impulses is great for jumping on opportunities and trouble-shooting problems but not so good when it comes to signing and sticking to contracts, follow-through, commitment, responsibilities, etc.[1]
A more convincing explanation, however, is that Casey is a lazy, work-shy fop.
As the months have rolled by without any results, Casey has developed increasingly forceful affirmations to attempt to motivate himself to focus:
- "I just need to focus and leverage my network and opportunities the right way."[2]
- "Facing opportunity… must FOCUS!"[3]
- "It’s time for massive focused action."[4]
Casey claims his lack of focus leads him into "paralysis analysis"; a victim of his own success, he now finds himself presented with so many sweet opportunities that he is simply unable to choose between them. He is a jack-off of all trades, master of none.
[A]ll the different opportunities that are presenting themselves are really exciting but there are too many of them coming at me all at once and some are conflicting. At the end of the day, all this stuff is causing some serious “paralysis analysis” and lack of focused movement due to being overwhelmed. [...] I must get focused. I can’t afford to be scattered anymore.[5]
The condition to which he refers is known commonly as "analysis paralysis," being paralyzed with the analysis of external circumstances. "Paralysis analysis" would instead describe focusing inward on on ones' own paralysis.
This appears to be a new concept, conceived entirely to describe narcissistic navel-gazer Casey Serin.
Besides lacking focus, Casey also lacks common sense. And business acumen. And any connection with reality. He is, though, apparently a really nice guy. So you know, he's got that goin' for him... and that's good. Right?
