Gaming the Credit System
From CaseyPedia
Gaming the Credit System is an anonymously-authored personal finance blog focusing largely on credit scoring.[1]
Of Casey Serin, the blog's author describes him/herself as "if I had to, I'd say I'm a Haterz™."[2] He/she posted critical commentary on Serin's credit score mistakes[3] and on Serin's ridiculous "buying apartment buildings" fantasy: "Have you gone insane? Where do you think you’re going to get the money to buy a 100+ unit apartment building?"[4].
In June 2007 he/she bought a $50 "Supporterz" link, titled "Improve your FICO score - unless you’re Casey".[5] A post at Gaming the Credit System explained why:
- I had to temper my disgust at Casey (especially with this recent Australia bit) with my greed and desire to make some more money from this blog. I have mostly stayed out of the comments at IAFF, because you guys can be awfully intimidating... [...] That MyFICO.com referral link that you see at the top of the page is actually making surprisingly good money, even with the minimal amount of traffic that I'm already getting. I'd like to see if I can increase that, at least temporarily (who knows how long IAFF will be up).[2]
In a later comment at Don't Hate Casey, he/she analyzed pageviews subsequent to the ad and concluded that "it totally hasn't been worth it."[6]
