Haterz™
From CaseyPedia
Haterz™ is the collective name for what is widely believed to be the majority of the people follwing Casey Serin's antics. Award-winning blogger Nigel Swaby believed that the figure could have been as low as 3% of IAFF readers.[1] This calculation seems to be based on the assumption that everyone who didn't explicitly identify themselves as a "Hater" on the day when Stephanie J. did her census (see below) must therefore be a Casey supporter.
Hatzer™ can easily be identified by their computer screens, which are typically marked with coffee / tea / soda stains as a result of frequent involuntary explosions of laughter all at Casey's expense.
Typically, any given member of the Haterz™ begins with a neutral viewpoint after stumbling across IAFF by accident. While initially sympathetic to the cause of Casey Serin, nearly everyone soon wises up to the fact that Serin:
- lives in a different world from that of normal human beings
- is massively trolling in a desperate bid for attention
Since the fallout of Serin's run to Australia, the full-on hate has apparently come without abatement; if his self-moderated comments section is to be of any indication. As of 7pm June 12, Serin's final comment on the matter is as follows:
- Is everybody against me? Regardless of all the mistakes, at this point I just want to do the right thing. Whatever that is.[2]
There are only three comments, all of them Serin's. Nigel Swaby ceased moderating, due to Casey's perception of his being unsupportive of his actions. The ranks of the Hater club may even have swelled during that debacle and were rumored to include Serin's wife Galina, Jesus Christ, Lord Buddha, Mother Theresa, all of the Care Bears, and possibly even Nigel Swaby.
Serin has speculated about why there was such 'negativity' in response to his blog and produced this little nugget of wisdom:
Why so Negative?
I think people were negative because:[3]
- Many (not all) people reading “Bubble Blogs” are negative to begin with.
- Me calling the loan “liar loan” made it seem REALLY bad.
- Some people DO NOT realize that these loans are pretty typical in the industry.
- It is controversial to be this honest about my situation.
- Many people think “flippers” and “speculators” are responsible for the real estate bubble - that’s debatable.
- Many think I am a bad person for investing because I am just greedy and want quick riches.
- People are bitter about sky-rocketing housing prices and need to blame somebody!
Despite the name, Haterz™ generally do not actually hate Casey per se, but dislike him for his alleged crimes of mortgage fraud, his obsessive (yet invariably unsuccessful) pursuit of easy money and sweet deals, and/or his personality characteristics. No genuine Haterz™ have ever wished harm upon him or his family and certainly do not advocate he take the easy way out (i.e. suicide or fleeing the country). Haterz™ who have spoken to, or met Casey in person have generally have cordial relations with him. In this sense there should be no assumption that the Haterz™ are committing hate crimes or any other nonsense. Because of this concern some Haterz™ prefer to be called "Critics" or "Realists".
The opposite of the Haterz™ are the Supporterz™. Many Haterz™ began as strong or mild Supporterz™, offering well-thought-out criticism and advice to Serin; however, Serin's perpetual avoidance of any advice that disagrees with his "great things are coming" mindset and his continued blundering tends to turn even the most ardent of Supporterz™ against him in time. "MOCHA "mos def" Casey supporter"[4] describes the Haterz™ as "a bunch of 12 year olds boyz with your kissin' cousin steph, t and FMV at the club house."[5]
Exurban Nation initially established itself as the unofficial main Haterz™ blog, though no less than ten other blogs were started whose main topic is bashing Serin. EN later fell out of favor with the creation of Caseyhaterz.com.

[edit] Haterz Rollcall
An unofficial roll-call of Haterz™ was compiled by Stephanie J. at her organic vegan sweet deal of a blog.
Rob Dawg started a haterz™ map at EN: "My daughter took one look and said; "It's a 'Maurader's Map.' Kewl.""[6][7]
[edit] First Expression of Haterzism™
The origin of the Haterz™ phenomenon has been traced to the first weeks of IAFF. On September 21, 2006 at 3:16pm Pacific Time, an individual known only as "joe" posted a comment to Casey's first IAFF post. The text of the comment was brief and to the point:
- Ha
- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
- I LOVE YOU MAN!!!!
- You just admitted to federal mail fraud and a bunch of other federal crimes on the Internets!!
- Be sure to tell the judge that “it’s actually pretty common”
- PS can you design my website pricedoutofahomebecauseofretardedflippers.com?[8]
The comment was the 10th on Casey's initial entry, and the 59th in the history of IAFF. (Comments were made to later entries prior to joe's comment)
Haterzism™ was born.
