Infamy
From CaseyPedia
A variant of fame whereby the reasons for said fame are largely or wholly negative.
Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Saddam Hussein are infamous dictators. Timothy McVeigh, Ted Bundy and Osama bin Laden are infamous mass murderers. Bernie Ebbers, Kenneth Lay and Casey Serin are infamous fraudsters.
The level of villainy does not necessarily affect the level of infamy. Clearly, Casey Serin is nowhere near the same level as the WorldCom and Enron fraudsters, and is most unlikely ever to get to that position. However, his fame - which is considerable and growing - derives exclusively from his fraudulent activities.
