Legal Defense / Offense Donation

July 19th 2007: in this post on IAFF, Casey solicits money to defend himself and offend others. This is news.

Casey has "scraped up" $1500 to retain an attorney and solicits donations from supporters to help pay for his defense.

Citing "a good defense is a strong offense", Casey threatens a countersuit: "After talking to my lawyer about all this stuff this character has done, we have found plenty of standing to counter sue this guy." However, he would still prefer LossMitPro to "walk away in peace".

Casey paints thumbnail sketches of "the three characters": Marty is "the most reasonable", Duane is "somewhat reasonable" but "cannot be trusted", and LossMitPro is "beyond words. I’m actually starting to HATE him."

He again claims that "the BS “settlement” is just a big circus" and claims that he is still trying to achieve his goals: "shutting down, job, paying my wife’s credit cards, etc."

[edit] Comments

Casey adds rapid-fire comments in which he:

  • suggests that donations may be sent directly to his attorney, "if I feel you’re legitimate and not just screwing around with me", and notes that "if you’re SO worried, you probably shouldn’t donate period. I have enough supporters."[1]
  • claims that he was smeared in the complaint with "HIGHLY slanted and repeated mention of “mortgage fraud”." Yes, how dare he: it wasn't serial mortgage fraud, it was just a few mistakes, right?[2]
  • says his Phoenix opportunity is "very tempting" and hints at another, "local opportunity" that he is also pursuing. Chances of him screwing up and blowing both? Moderate to high.[3]
  • suggests that he is open to cash-for-questions: "If there are certain conditions you want met (or some questions you want answered) before you donate then post them here and even better, contact me, and I’ll see what I can do." Yes, it's Beg-a-thon II; but this time, he's "not going to do stupid stuff for $10."[4]
  • indicates that his attorney has met with LossMitPro and a settlement may be in the works.[6]
  • states that he still plans on shutting down the blog on August 3rd and "can't wait for this drama to be over."[8]
  • likens his situation to "being fed to the lions with only a wooden stick to defend myself and tens of thousands of people are watching and rooting."[9]
  • admits that his "natural optimistic juices are running really low."[10]
  • shares a recording of his Caseyisms with everyone.[11]
