Live on Australia National Radio
From CaseyPedia
June 27th 2007: in this short post on IAFF, Casey plugs a radio appearance and begs for shelter.
International man of misery Casey briefly mentions that he will be interviewed on the "Top Shelf with Robbie Buck" radio show tomorrow. Why the late notice? Probably because the haterz scuppered his last interview.
Growing ever-closer to living on the streets, Casey mentions paying $2 per hour to blog at an Internet café, and an additional $50 per night to stay at a hostel "for my own room so that my stuff is secure."
Not content with these relatively low prices, Casey pleads with any denizens of Sydney to put him up for free.
He signs off with a "thank you" to his previous Australian host -- the one who ultimately kicked him out after "complications" arose.
[edit] Comments
Multiple people ask Casey why the previous accommodations didn't work out; Casey, likely hiding Deep Dark Secret™ #8,394, continues to ignore the question.[1][2] isamu taunts Casey with his brother Steve's words: "Homeless guy with a computer."[3]
Commenter the unwelcome guest offers advice on Casey's "secure" accomodation: "go buy the small padlock for the locker. [...] A guy who spends an extra $20 on putative security in a Host-el has a lot of growing up to do."[4]
Austin Dude offers a pithy comment on Casey's world tour -- "who cares?"[5]
Casey posts a long comment in which he addresses some unanswered questions in veiled and evasive terms, and revels in his world-class mooching:
- I have only spend $200-300 on the ENTIRE trip so far. I’ve been here for like 3 weeks now? So $100/week aint bad heh? The publicity and the juiciness factor of being in a diff country and still saving money to pay off debt is the underlining benefit that is coming from all this.[6]
A number of commenters attempt to educate Casey on the realities of "very sweet" private equity funds:
- You are not an accredited investor, nor is your corporation. Any PE firm that agrees to take your money is scamming you. Private equity exists outside the auspices of the SEC only partially. Regulations like the aforementioned exist to prevent guys JUST LIKE YOU from getting scammed.[7]
- You are not legally allowed to invest unless you are an accredited investor. Look that up at some point when you’re not googling for get rich quick schemes, and you will find out quickly that you do not qualify and therefore cannot legally invest in a private equity fund. I hope this is not some misbegotten scheme to invest whatever proceeds you may get from this “book”, because its becoming painfully obvious that whatever money you get will be ripped off by the next “expert” you come across.[8]
Casey comments again after his interview to note: "The interview today… man that was a tough one. Robbie had some good questions but also kept kind of putting me into the corner with repeated “did you commit fraud?”, and “are you a con man?” and stuff like that."[9] Why might that be? Ah yes: "Robbie Buck said on air that he has never had people send him emails warning him about a radio guest like the haterz did with me."[10] Casey goes on to describe his dependent relationship with the haterz:
- The funny thing is… with your attempt at sabotage you’re actually helping my story be more interesting and keeping the World’s Most Hated Blogger label going. Thanks for your help. You can try to throw sticks into my wheels (is that how they say it) but I will keep ridin’. You may win a few battles there and here but the outcome of the war has already been determined.
We'll see, Casey. We'll see.
mejustme adds a virtuoso demolition of Casey's I'm-no-con-man defense, laying out a hypothetical allegory for Casey's purchases and concluding:
- Would you be justified in calling me a con artist? A fraud? I think you would. Even if I had every intention, every desire, to pay you back. Even if I didn’t see any profit from this bad deal myself. I misrepresented myself to get money you wouldn’t have given me if I had told you the truth.
- YOU ARE A FRAUD. YOU ARE A CON MAN.[11]
