Modesto Pool
From CaseyPedia
The Modesto Pool is a private pool located at the Muncy residence in Modesto, California. It sits in the backyard of one of the houses previously owned by Casey Serin. When Serin bought the house, the pool was in pristine condition. Serin then brilliantly decided to let the pool sit for eight months throughout the winter and spring of 2007, without any type of covering.
In April 2007 Casey received the following note from his Modesto agent:
- Casey,
- I just wanted to update you on what is going on. I went by the property today. The pool looks nasty. There is a notice from the mosquito abatement district. They want you to clean or drain the pool within 2 weeks. I tried to call them but they close at 5. The number is 209-XXX-XXXX, if you want to call them. We should be hearing from the second lender soon. ( I Hope.)[1]
Because the pool's maintenance was completely ignored by Serin, the water turned dark green, and the pool itself became an algae farm and a mosquito-breeding ground, literally visible from Earth orbit using Google Maps.[2]
Award-winning blogger Nigel Swaby, who holds no degree in biology or oceanography, claimed to have discovered the unique phenomenon of solar algae at the pool site. Swaby noted: "My point is this is mostly algae caused by the sun."[3] "I have an easy job with mine since it's indoors.", added Swaby.[4]
