To monetize something means to generate cash from some good or service.

In the context of Casey Serin's existence, monetizing usually refers to his attempts to generate some cash income from IAFF and -- more generically -- from his 15 minutes of fame. Failed attempts at monetizing IAFF have included discussed partnerships with Nigel Swaby, the NLL debacle, attempts to recruit advertisers, and an announced but never completed initiative to turn the blog into a "foreclosure resource."

To date, Serin's ability to monetize the blog has been limited to one moderately-successful beg-a-thon, and the selling of purportedly "sweet links", bought by advertisers likely as unscrupulous as Serin himself. This will undoubtedly fail as he will forget to invoice, assign Galina to invoice or generally just screw it all up.
