Mr. King
From CaseyPedia
The ominously-named Mr. King is a representative for the allegedly usurious loan company CashCall.
Casey Serin recorded a telephone call to Mr. King, in which Serin squirmed on the hook and gave increasingly inflated estimates of his "earnings". Business as usual, then. Mr. King's name in the call was redacted by a beep; the redactions were not entirely successful as at least one instance of his name remained uncensored.[1] In addition, Serin failed to fully redact his Social Security number, which begins with a "6". Pressed for comment about his trying to beep things out, Serin cheerfully explained that he was failing forward.
Mr. King is also popularly known as Mr. Blip, from the transcription of the redacted audio.[2]
Although Mr. King maintained a cordial tone throughout the conversation, he has also been known to act as a stereotypical bad-ass collector outside of the Serin debt sphere. One CashCall "Ripoff Report" from California contains the following blurb:
- After coming home from work yesterday we got a very nasty message from a guy calling himself Mr. King, he was yelling on the phone as if he was actually talking to a person, so my husband called the Credit Counselor and she said she would call them. About 20 minutes later we got a call from Mr. King again so my husband spoke to him and was told that they do not work with third parties, but that they will take the money from anyone on his behalf. He told my husband that since CCCS had only made a partial payment we still owed $132 out of the $250 that was due for the month of May and that if he didn't pay legal action would be taken.[3]
Mr. King's true identity remains unknown for the time being.
