Organic
From CaseyPedia
Organic is a term used by Casey Serin as a rough synonym for the adjective clean, among other dopey new-age definitions.
Strictly speaking, Serin attempts to keep IAFF as organic as possible, whatever that means. In his brief Wired-inspired infatuation with "getting naked" (oh dear God no!) he wrote:[1]
- I figured if I filter too many comments people will think I’m trying to hide something. So I would let the “haters” post dirt about me because I can then explain it and give my view. By keeping it “organic” and encouraging “free speech” I have been trying to follow the strategy that the Wired article talks about: Putting out more evasion or PR puffery won’t work, because people will either ignore it and not link to it - or worse, pick the spin apart and enshrine those criticisms high on your Google list of life.
The irony in the fact that Serin's evasions and spin have led to haterz "picking the spin apart and enshrining their criticisms high on Google" is, of course, lost on him.
At root, "keeping it organic" appears to mean "allowing a free flow of comments". Apart from those which are held in comment moderation limbo, of course. And those that are censored for mentioning people or topics that Casey is not prepared to discuss. And those that are deemed disrespectful.
Organic is also used to describe products and foodstuffs free of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and hormones. Serin favors organic fruits and vegetables for juicing, and organic hair wax for primping.[2]
Organic also describes a search engine position achieved without paid placement.[3]
