The "Prelude to a Ferrari" was Casey Serin's car in late 2008. It is a beige Honda Prelude from either 1995 or 1996, as evidenced by the particular layout of the tail lights. Serin had lost his old car, the V-Dubs, in the divorce proceedings with his ex-wife Galina. The Prelude was subsequently first mentioned in a talkcast in early August 2008, when Serin made reference to what he was currently driving, which he termed a "Prelude to a Ferrari". Serin had initially attempted to skip the middleman and buy an actual Ferrari outright, but the deal fell through when the dealership rebuffed Serin's demands of no-money-down with cash back at close. Instead, the Prelude was purchased through one of his uncles who works in the used car business.

The car has a manual transmission, since Serin is more comfortable driving with his hand on the stick.

Serin used the term "Prelude to a Ferrari" to further his delusional fantasies that he's a Grown Up Business Man who will start raking in money any day now. The car's nickname has spawned parodies, such as "Prelude to a Cardboard Box", which allude to Serin's actual current situation -- one step removed from being a homeless guy with a computer.

On the May 18, 2009 talkcast, Serin revealed that the Prelude had started to "nickel and dime me to death," and he had moved on to a succession of RVs.
