A sockpuppet is a false online identity that is used to conceal the actual person behind it, similar to a physical "sock puppet" concealing a hand. Internet sockpuppets are generally used to lavish praise upon their "handlers".
Former Olympic pin salesman and balding pleather-goddess Nigel Swaby has been regularly accused of using sockpuppets on his award-winning blogs. Swaby's sockpuppets, the most infamous one of which was called "Robert", repeatedly defended Swaby, arguably to bolster Swaby's laughable defense of Casey Serin, his questionable knowledge of real estate, and his alleged Rob Dawg-bashing on RCS. True to any sockpuppet, "Robert" vociferously denied that he was, in actuality, Swaby hiding behind the cloak of anonymity.[citation needed]
Another purported Swaby sockpuppet is named "DUI Coté", a tired, played-out reference to a past DUI offense by Coté. "DUI Coté" has made appearances on IAFF for no reason other than to note the conviction, and on RCS to again support Swaby's bizarre vendetta against Exurban Nation and its owner.
Coté himself has averred that the postings of both sockpuppets coincide with visits from IPs around Salt Lake City.

Many Haterz™ have alleged that the so-called Canadian Fan who donated $1,000 CDN to Casey Serin is, in fact, a sockpuppet engineered by Serin himself to divert suspicion from the way the money was actually obtained.
