Talk:Sharky Laguana
From CaseyPedia
Content removed.
Guys, if you want to have a go at Mr. Laguana, please do this from the comfort and security of your own blogs or whatever. I haven't got the time to deal with this stuff at the moment. NoDebtWhatSoEver™
- just to elaborate: I've had some lengthy (and given the circumstances very civil) emails from Sharky, who's clearly not happy at the coverage he's getting. Personally I have no particular opinion of the guy one way or another, other than that he made the mistake so many other have of doing business with Casey. If anyone has any issues to raise with him, please do so on your own responsibility. My beef is with Casey. NoDebtWhatSoEver™
- Then Shall we of course also delete info on Kiyosucki? All Other Gurus? Nigel? LMP? Suspected Casey supporters (take a look; there is lot's of non-Casey -direct content here)At least some of those folks (not Laguna) have been "rehabilitated" and seen the error of their ways in supporting Casey's various illegalities and misdeeds. I frankly think he put a bug in someone's ear and is getting a pass. That SUCKS, not to put too fine a point on it. Guess you might want retool the "Percent Wiki-Nazi-free" down to about 14% at this point. Disgusting. -- Soemdood 01:08, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- the situation is this: I am the 100% WikiHitler around here due to it being my site / domain, which also means it's me where the metaphorical buck stops. If I get more hassle on something than I have the time or motivation to deal with, it goes. --NoDebtWhatSoEver™ 01:32, 7 July 2007 (CEST)

- It's true that Sharky is a squeaky wheel, but he's also pretty much a bit player, no? Sorry, Dood, but I can't find myself getting that worked up over him. Although in terms of public exposure, he would have been well advised to simply stay quiet than to make an issue of comments on a non-public-facing Talk page. He got what he wanted, but he's not really coming out of it looking any sweeter...
- The broader issue, as I see it, is CaseyPedia's role. As I see it, it's is for documenting, not attacking. NoDebt's point is this: if you want a rumble, do it on your own turf so that he's not left responsible for the cleanup. I suspect the success of CaseyPedia has been a mixed blessing -- what started as a lark has taken on a life of its own. --Lawnmower man 01:33, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- And on Kiyosaki: I suspect it's no accident that our content on him is either (a) factual, or (b) well-telegraphed satire. --Lawnmower man 01:34, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- Apparently, others were editing while I was writing. Let me try yet again:
Please, sirs to be explaining to me why commentary on Snarky Sharky is unacceptable, but THIS, even with Nigel being nothing but a gentleman and helpful to the "cause" for weeks now is considered acceptable content, even FOR THE MAIN PAGE, FOR GOODNESS SAKES! I saved my worst for a comments section. :
Swaby is widely known in the Haterz™ community under a number of colorful nicknames: * Cornflake -- as a counterpart to Serin's Snowflake, only not as special. * Butterfly -- coined by Duane LeGate, referring to Nigel 's being attracted to the "flower" that is Casey Serin. * Buttfly -- an involuntary contraction of the previous name.
Buttfly? Really? Is this not at least as personally objectionable as anything said about Laguna? I fail to see why we would want this apparent double standard? I am sure I need not show the semi-pornographic picture of a naked woman purported to be Mocha. All is accepted as good fun when it comes to her, eh? -- Soemdood 01:40, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- I wish all good success to Caseypedia, whatever it decides to fashion itself (?), however, I think I shall now take my leave. I will look through my few meager contributions, and if their absence does not perturb any actual value, then I will be editing them out so as to avoid being associated with any other situations that the editors/owner may find discomfiting, for himself, or his.... muses.
Cheers! -- Soemdood 01:49, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- (laugh) Looks like untangling what I did versus others tweaking is a bunch more trouble than it's worth! Please just consider that anything I have ever added is of course fair game to either remove or leave as is, but not modify unless attribution to me is removed. That seems easiest and pretty fair. -- Soemdood 01:59, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
Sad to see you go, Dood -- we don't see eye to eye on this one (although I'll admit to misgivings over the Mocha pictures too) but you've done a lot of good work here. --Lawnmower man 02:00, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- if Sharky was playing a similar role in the KC saga to the one Nigel was, things might be different... as it was, I felt his name was being dragged disproportionately through the mud. "whatever it decides to fashion itself (?)" - that is indeed an issue; the outer borders aren't too clearly defined yet. Sorry to see you go, and all the best. --NoDebtWhatSoEver™ 02:08, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
[edit] So what is fair game here?
I'd like to see two things reinstated into the Sharky article:
- his other sweet link for MixPal
- a photograph of him
I don't see either of these as objectionable; and I don't think Sharky should get to choose which of the publicly-available photos of him we use. --Lawnmower man 02:04, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- let me sleep on that, it's early am where I am and I'm losing track of what's what.--NoDebtWhatSoEver™ 02:26, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
- No rush, no pressure -- just wanted to to get it out there. --Lawnmower man 02:40, 7 July 2007 (CEST)
