The Foreclosure Code

The Foreclosure Code is the title of the blog/book/media deal between massive real-estate failure Casey Serin and massive traffic generator Marty Stewart.[1]

The title is an overtly blatant ripoff of Dan Brown's bestselling The Da Vinci Code. The cover also bears a remarkable similarity to the cover of Brown's novel. Hater BelowTheCrowd alleged in an EN comment that the title and design for Serin's book included at least two possible violations of Da Vinci Code copyrights.[2]

Although Serin's scrawlings are unlikely to achieve the same phenomenal sales success as Brown's work, they will almost assuredly share the same abysmal writing style.[4]

The title The Foreclosure Code was first revealed when audio files of Serin and Stewart's "content generation" telephone calls were uncovered by the haterz.[5] Forced into the limelight, Stewart discussed the proposed content and and gave a link to the book's website, www.foreclosurecode.com, in an audio interview.[6]

Stewart claims that the info products' release dates were to be stretched out over a 12 month period. A total of four books were to be released:

  • Volume 1, covering how Serin got himself into his current mess
  • Volumes 2 and 3, targeting people facing foreclosure, with case studies of other people's experiences
  • Volume 4, "hopefully" detailing Serin's ultimate success story.

Serin later confirmed the title The Foreclosure Code in a post on IAFF, in which he also baited haterz with the question "what do you think of the title and cover?" and gave a release date of July 2007.[7]

At the same time, the Foreclosure Code site was updated a signup form for a mailing list, supposedly recruiting readers "to Review Casey's Book Before it's Released to the General Public". Meanwhile, haterz are busy sending e-mails to Doubleday, The DaVinci Code's publisher, to alert them about the blatant trademark violations.[8]

[edit] No Happy Ending for The Foreclosure Code?

On July 11th, Casey sent an email to Marty explaining how he no longer wished to produce a book and blog. For once, Casey said in black and white terms that the book was not to be published without Casey approving. At the end of the short but brief email, he laments how he shouldn't have monetized his blog at the expense of his marriage. Funny how commentators posted for weeks about this.
