- In addition I’ve been in contact with some of the CaseyPedia folks, and they’ve graciously agreed to edit content there; I’ve just been too busy running my practice and handling the Casey issues to ask them for what they’ve already said they would do ON A FRIENDLY BASIS!!!
Just in case soem dood is wondering... I have no idea who Mark Villasenor is talking about, and I've never had any direct contact with him myself.
[edit] Server Woes
Well, that was fun... there I was having a nice quiet Friday evening, came to into the workroom to check the Interweb was still running, and discovered that - thanks to the links from the CNET article - all hell had broken loose on the CaseyPedia server ("sponsored by NoDebtWhatSoEver™", in case you didn't know).
Unfortunately - due to having more productive things to do with my time - I'd only made a simple, non-optimized installation of the MediaWiki application, which had been doing fine with the regular Haterz™ traffic up until then. The traffic spike - which I had no advance knowledge of - triggered a load-watching script which kept shooting down the CaseyPedia installation in favor of some other applications on the same server which are more beneficial to my bank account.
Having got things into what I though was a reasonable shape, I retired for a nap - it was past 2am in my time zone, only to wake up a few hours later to discover the poor server had been turned into a quivering wreck again.
I've spent a bit of time today pouring some sweet optimizing juice into the server, which unfortunately involved a bit more downtime again (though that was early in the am for you in the Americas). Hopefully things should run more smoothly today, though I give no guarantees.
