The V-Dubs, also known as the Bitter-Sweet Jetta,[1] was a white 1998 Volkswagen Jetta owned by Casey Serin during his IAFF period. Some of the car's details include:

  • The car's California license plate is 4BUB954
  • The car's VIN is allegedly 3VWPB81H7WM273192.[citation needed]
  • The car had 99,438 miles on the odometer as of March 1, 2007.[2]

Serin purchased the V-Dubs for $3200 in November 2006,[3][4] choosing to thoroughly inspect the car only after purchasing it.[5] He described the car as "sort of a fixer-upper with nice rims and stereo and a bunch of problems. Not the smartest move."[6] and suffered immediate buyer's remorse: "The car sux. Another impulse buy.".[7]

The V-Dubs' sweet rims shredded a tire[8] on the way home from his first foreclosure auction in February 2007[9], requiring it to be towed home[10]. Haterz have identified the location of the tire shred to be near the intersection of K St. & 30th St. in Sacramento based on the Blockbuster shown in the photo.

V-Dubs however has been documented, courtesy of the CHiPs, of being capable of exceeding 90 MPH. For this Snowflake received a speeding ticket for $240 which, to our current knowledge, has not yet been paid.[11]

In April 2007, V-Dubs was broken into[12] outside Yulia's, losing its sweet stereo[13][14] and subwoofers[15][16]. In the aftermath of the break-in, Serin revealed that his auto insurance had been cancelled.

Having lost his final house to foreclosure, and facing an imminent eviction at the time, Serin entertained an elaborate fantasy of living in the Jetta: "If I was single right now I would just go ahead and try living in the car just for the challenge and experience. It would be fun to see how practical it is and how long I can last."[17]

The V-Dubs features ugly aesthetically challenging beige-brown seat covers: Galina bought those back when we first got the car. The seats smelled pretty bad and had holes. The covers helped a lot.[18][19]

As is typical with Serin's assets, he almost certainly paid more for V-Dubs than it was worth (some haters speculate that it's true value may have been approximately $2759), and it is now worth a lot less than he paid for it.

Still no word from Serin about rumors of him planning to add leisure suit seat covers and duct tape racing stripes to upgrade the car.

V-Dubs has been a useful tool for Ratlab and others to keep track of KC's movements.

As of June 11, 2007, Serin has left the V-Dubs to his wife Galina. He asked her to come get it when he walked out of their marriage and fled the country.[citation needed]
